Definition of 'Tough'

Tough.
1. Able to withstand great strain without tearing or breaking; strong and resilient: a tough all-weather fabric.
2. Hard to cut or chew: tough meat.
3. Physically hardy; rugged: tough mountaineers; a tough cop.
4. Hoogerland, Johnny
 How tough are these riders?

Think about it. You get taken down by a car and catapulted into barbed wire and a post. Would you get back on your bike and ride 35 km to the finish line? Then after the awards ceremony you visit the hospital and get 33 stitches to close your wounds. How sore will Hoogerland be? Does he ride his bike on the rest day? Would you get back on your bike and race?
